Gaming Laptop FAQ

Everything you need to know about GPUs, VRAM, and thermal performance.

What is TGP and why does it matter for gaming?

Total Graphics Power (TGP) is the amount of power allocated to the laptop's GPU. Two identical RTX 4060 laptops can have different performance if one has a 45W TGP and the other 115W. We help you find the 'full power' variants.

How much VRAM do I need for gaming in 2024?

For 1080p gaming, 6GB-8GB is sufficient. For 1440p or 4K, we strongly recommend 12GB+ of Video RAM to avoid stuttering in modern titles like Cyberpunk or Warzone.

Is DLSS 3/3.5 really that important?

Yes. Frame Generation (DLSS 3) can double your FPS in supported games. We weight NVIDIA's software stack heavily in our gaming laptop recommendations.

Can I upgrade the GPU in these laptops later?

No, laptop GPUs are soldered to the motherboard. That's why it's critical to use our matcher to ensure your choice will remain capable for years to come.
